LUCIANO VENTRONE - Sui generi’s

Partners & Mucciaccia Gallery in Gillman Barracks presents for the first time in Singapore, and straight from its latest show at Casino dei Principo of Villa Torlonia in Rome, one of the most important European museums the solo exhibition of the greatest master of international figurative art, Luciano Ventrone.

“Sui generi/s”, Ventrone’s rare production, very much sought after by the most important collectors and museums all over the world, is curated by Cesare Biasini Selvaggi, and will show from 1st March to 2nd July 2013.

Ventrone’s extraordinary pictorial technique and unprecedented ability of working with very thin brushes, at time even with the single bristle 0.001 brush, ensures that his works look more real than reality itself. His still-lifes seem to come out of the canvas, at your fingertips ready to be grabbed.

Some of the most important art historians have likened him to “the Caravaggio of the 21st century”

Ventrone’s lifestyle is certainly out of the ordinary as well. He has spent most of the past 50 years in his atelier in Italy, painting 18 hours a day, without any interruptions or breaks for holiday or opening-related trips. Singapore will have the privilege of having the master attending his exhibition opening.

Inside the beautiful gallery space, the public is invited to admire more than fifty new masterpieces by the roman artist, from his still-lifes (flowerpots and fruit baskets or bowls) to female nudes, back or profile portraits on neutral, black or grey, backgrounds. The same pictorial virtuosity characterises his “en plein air” landscapes, as the dazzling “marinas”.

A never-before released video of Luciano Ventrone’s extraordinary technical-pictorial peculiarities will be screened and a catalogue raisonné on his work will be available.
