Complementing Michael Janssen’s gallery in Berlin, which has participated in major art fairs such as Art Basel, Art Basel Miami Beach, Art Hong Kong and The Armory Show, the Singapore space will showcase emerging, mid-career as well as established artists from North America, Europe and Southeast Asia. The gallery will present ambitious solo presentations as well as group exhibitions and will host public programs such as performances, talks and film screenings. Artists to be featured in the program include Yoshitaka Amano, Peter Zimmermann, Meg Cranston and Christoph Steinmeyer, among others.

Keep it simple. Keep it fresh.

Bringing close to two decades of international art from Berlin, Michael Janssen Gallery opens in Singapore with "Keep it simple. Keep it fresh.", featuring renowned American artists John Baldessari and Meg Cranston. Contemporary artists John Baldessari and Meg Cranston will be collaborating to showcase a series of artworks, combining paintings by Meg Cranston and text by John Baldessari. Each artwork will be co-signed by Cranston and Baldessari to be exhibited at Michael Janssen Gallery, Singapore. The show's 7-week duration is from 18 January to 10 March 2013.

 

Meg Cranston was born in 1960 in Baldwin, NY and lives and works in Venice, CA. Her work includes sculptures, performance, drawings, photographs, installations and books and has been shown internationally since 1990, including the Venice Biennale in 1993 and the Getty Museum of Art in 2008. John Baldessari is an artist whose work was central to the development of U.S. conceptual art. Born in 1931, Baldessari lives in Santa Monica, California and works in Venice, California. He taught at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, CA and the University of California at Los Angeles. Baldessari's artwork has been featured in more than 200 solo exhibitions and in over 1000 group exhibitions in the U.S. and Europe. His awards and honors include the Americans for the Arts Lifetime Achievement Award and the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in 2009. Recent projects include exhibitions in New York, Europe, and Los Angeles; installations at the Museum Haus Lange (Krefeld, Germany), the Temporary Stedelijk 2 (Amsterdam, the Netherlands) and the Manchester International Festival (Manchester, United Kingdom); an exhibition with the Fondazione Prada in Milan, Italy; and the traveling retrospective "John Baldessari: Pure Beauty."
