With COVID-19 and the Circuit Breaker measures, technology’s importance in our lives has become strikingly apparent. It is important that we look towards our future and harness the power of technology to prepare for any uncertain adversaries. As our smart nation progresses, the artist re-imagines what the hybridity of Singapore's national flower could be with the fusion of technology and art. 'Miss Q' is an eco-orchid that harnesses the sun's rays in Singapore's tropical climate to power its street lamps.

About the artist
Denise Yap (b.1998) is a re-packager, an inbetween of pre-writer and post-reader; Yap draws from different sources of information to build a plausible world. Her artworks explore the potentiality of sincere investments such as alternative kinships and entanglements (and all the embarrassments!) of the human condition.

Yap’s recent group exhibitions include "The Open Workshop" for Singapore Art Week at independent art space Supernormal (2020). In 2019, her works were presented at "Eaten: A Capsule Museum for Future Possible Past Beings" as part of Art After Dark at Gillman Barracks, "Repel Revel" at Grey Projects, and "A Very Objective Video" at Telok Ayer Arts Club.
