In search of an identity in Singapore, we should always remind ourselves to embrace our differences/uniqueness and put racism aside. Instead, we can use all the bursts of culture that we share to make it our own identity. Don’t get lost like Chan Mali Chan the kambing.

About the artist
Shafina Hazman (b. 1995) is a Malay-Singaporean graphic designer, illustrator and artist. Her works rely on lived experiences and collective memory to form self-examination. She has exhibited with Noise Singapore, Kult studios and Band of Doodlers. She embraces the looseness and the wonkiness of her illustrations because she likes the imperfection of it. After dabbling in art school, majoring in Graphic Communication, she discovered her love for illustrating and applied for a mentorship program with Noise Singapore. That’s how her career as an artist started. She marries both art and design to communicate with people visually.
