Residencies Studio Sessions: practical pollution
An experiment by Artist-in-Residence, Bani Haykal for 3 performers
A work-in-progress, practical pollution is based on Haykal’s research on the cultural cold war and how an excess of cultural exports (in lieu of cultural hegemony) supporting political and economic agenda is a prevalent method of control in the sphere of the internet. The performance employs 'clocking', a method which involves a predetermined duration set on stopwatches, autonomously controlled (when it starts, pauses and resumes) by performers. This first phase of practical pollution is performed by Bani Haykal, Rizman Putra and Suhaili Safari.
